Aside from all the trauma, your family etc will then have to contend with various issues regarding your financial situation and being able to pass on your assets to the ones who need it most. If you die intestate (without a Will) then your estate could remain tangled up in probate for up to 2 years! Unfortunately, your bills, debts, mortgage do not die with you, so take a moment to consider this very important part of your life planning.
Moreover, you may realise that Sharia Law does not readily recognise Wills since this is typically an English Law document. However, there is a facility to have it locally notarised here in Dubai if required.
If you would like to get yourself a Will or indeed need to review your existing arrangements, Read |

While in the forecourt of an Enoc petrol station waiting for my car to be cleaned, 3 loons sped away from their petrol pumps at break-neck speed. The first two managed to swerve their way through cars, pedestrians and petrol pumps but the last one did not. In an attempt to catch up with his fellow loons, he overpowered his Toyota POS; lost control and narrowly missed my son and I as the back-end of the vehicle swung around the forecourt. The momentum of the car stopped just short of taking-out a petrol pump and who knows what would be left of Jumeirah after that. Obviously he sped off leaving all of us, in particular my son, very shaken but grateful that we were all still alive.
It is on such occasions when we are made to think the unthinkable. What if we were just inches closer to the speeding loon? We cannot replace life but I am glad that I recently increased my life cover for my family with Aviva to remove the financial trauma in case the worst happended. For £500,000 of cover it costs me less than £100 per month – the cost of an evening out for most of us. None of us have enough life cover and we have yet to hear a Widow complain the payout cheque was too big.
