The Isle of Man and its finance sector won the annual International Investment Award for Best International Finance Centre for the eighth time in ten years. Isle of Man companies also fared well, picking up eight of the other awards. The judges said the Isle of Man had recognised the challenges it faced as a jurisdiction during the past year. Other Isle of Man winners included AXA Isle of Man (one award), Fairbairn Private Bank (one award), Royal Skandia International (three awards), Standard Bank (one award), and Zurich International (two awards). Allan Bell, the Manx Treasury Minister, who attended the ceremony, said: "We were delighted to receive the Best International Finance Centre Award again, especially as the judges understood the difficulties that all economies have been going through during 2008, the period for the award, and they clearly saw that the Isle of Man had risen to these challenges in a professional and intelligent way". Globaleye have recommended the Isle of Man as a secure financial jurisdiction for years and this reinforces the partnership with have with many of the large institutions that are based there. |
