According to Prudential, many people are just 30 days from financial disaster. Research by the insurer has found that despite 2.9 million Britons feeling they are in imminent danger of losing their jobs, 36% have little or no savings to tide them through emergencies.

Prudential's survey found that job insecurity is a “big worry” for one in 10 people in the UK, with 23% of the population worrying about it at least occasionally. The findings come just days after official figures showed unemployment levels at a four-year high.
