Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! Do you know that recent research, covered by UK newspapers such as The Daily Mail, Evening Standard and Daily Telegraph, claims that the average Dad saves his family at least £13,000 a year by taking care of some of the household jobs that you might otherwise have to pay for.
If you want to know some other stuff which shows how important Dads are then
In the UK, as a handyman, Dads are worth £1,545, says the research, and do at least £1,900 worth of taxi trips. He also carries out about £5,000 worth of gardening, £3,954 of housework and £639 worth of sports coaching in a year... So what would we do without him? From the financial planning angle, Ian Jefferies, head of protection marketing at Friends Provident, comments:...
Unfortunately, many Dads have no life cover and for most who have, the cover is inadequate - 24% of homebuyers have insufficient insurance to clear their mortgage if the breadwinner was to suddenly die. Should the worst happen, the surviving partner could be left struggling to bring up the family on her own. After taking into account the huge amount of unpaid work Dads do for their partners and their children too, it's probably realistic to say that Dads are worth their weight in gold. That said, how many of us thought of factoring this into our calculations when obtaining life cover?
