The fifth of the fifth of the fifth ... Print E-mail
Wednesday, 04 May 2005

The date is unique (like all other previous dates too I know) and we will never see that date ever again. But we take note because of simplicity of the digits and because folk like me decide to write about it. I am not trying to be profound or philosophical, but perhaps a point from which to take note and heed our message as purveyors of fine financial planning and perhaps some action on your part to put to rest the outstanding money matters you no doubt have. And we know you have them because we all do (particularly me!) since most people we speak to do not have enough life insurance, insufficient pension funding, no income protection, a Will, or have really considered the financial consequences if they contracted a terminal illness or worst.

Some famous people were born and died on this date so

Exactly that – they were born, lived life and then died. How comfortably they lived relied on how they managed their financial affairs in order to enjoy their retirement in a lifestyle they had become accustom to well after the fame had subsided. Moreover, if they had accrued wealth, how was it distributed after their death – to their loved ones as intended or to the taxman/govt in their home country? If they were really wealthy or barely had any money, the principles of managing your money effectively to meet life’s eventualities remains the same.

Here are a few famous folk that you may know ...

Born - Richard E Grant, Karl Marx, Michael Palin, Tammy Wynette

Died – Napoleon, Bobby Sands, Gaius Galerius, Mikhail Botvinnik (chess player)
